Royal Docket for January 30, 2014

HRH The Prince of Wales

     Prince Charles, Prince of Wales will be hosting a reception for NHS (National Health Service) Commissioners at Clarence House, as well as a dinner for the Sustainable Living Young Entrepreneurs Awards at Buckingham Palace. The Prince is attending the dinner in his role as the Patron of the Cambridge Programme for Sustainability Leadership, under which Prince William is currently taking courses for agricultural management.

HRH The Duchess of Cornwall

     Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall will attend a reception for 'Diamond Champion' volunteers at Lancaster House in London as President of the Royal Voluntary Service, which is an organization dedicated to helping to improve the lives of older people by taking care of everyday needs such as making a run to the supermarket. It also provides emergency teams during crisis events such as the Lockerbie bombing.

HRH The Countess of Wessex

     Sophie, Countess of Wessex is going to be in Cheshire for the day. 

     She will visit the David Lewis Center - a foundation of which she is Patron that provides accommodation, health, and education services to people with epilepsy, autism, and other disorders. The Countess will also spend time at the Peace Center to visit the Tim Parry-Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace - which provides services such as peer mediation and leadership development programs to young people - and the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) Service Center, of which she is Patron.

HRH The Duke of Gloucester

     Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester is visiting British troops in Bielefield, Germany. As Deputy Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Logistic Corps, he will inspect the 24 Regiment Disbandment Parade at the Catterick Barracks.

HRH The Duke of Kent

     Prince Edward, Duke of Kent will be paying a visit to the Imperial War Museum in London, as President of the Board of Trustees.

TRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall

     Prince Charles, Prince of Wales and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall will be in the county of Essex to carry out three engagements.

     They will visit the Palace Theatre in Westcliff-on-Sea as part of the Shakespeare Schools Festival, as well as the Royal Opera House - of which the Prince is Patron - in Purfleet to observe Bob and Tamar Manoukian Set Production workshop.

     In Purliegh, the Prince and Duchess will visit the Bell Pub for an event featuring Pub Is The Hub, an organization of which the Prince is Patron and which promotes the use of pubs as centers for providing community services.

HRH The Countess of Wessex

     Sophie, Countess of Wessex is going to launch the Women's Network Forum of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award at Buckingham Palace as Chair of the Women in Business Group.

     In the evening, she will be at the Royal Automobile Club in London to attend a dinner marking the 90th birthday of actor Lord Brian Rix, who has been an advocate for people with disabilities, especially through Mencap, a charity of which the Countess is Patron.

HRH The Princess Royal

     Princess Anne, Princess Royal will attend an annual Supporters' Reception as Patron of Sense - The National Deafblind and Rubella Association. The reception offers those in attendance insights into the work of the organization, and how they can support it.

     As Patron NIACE (National Institute of Adult Continuing Education), she will attend a seminar entitled Family Learning Works in Schools: how learning in families contributes to raising children's achievement at PricewaterhouseCoopers in London.

HRH The Duke of Gloucester

     Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester, as an Honorary Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, will attend a lectured entitled Innovative Partnerships in Flood Risk Management at the Institution of Civil Engineers Headquarters in London.

HRH The Earl of Wessex

     Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex will be in Murren, Switzerland from today to January 29th to attend the 90th anniversary celebrations of the Kandahar Ski Club. The Club - whose headquarters is located in Murren - was founded by British skiers, and the Earl of Wessex is an honorary member whilst the Duke of Kent is the club's Patron.

HRH The Duke of Gloucester

     Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester, in his role as Patron of the Kensington Society, will attend a dinner to mark its 60th anniversary at the Mayor of Kensington and Chelsea's Parlour at Kensington Town Hall in London. The Society aims to protect, preserve, and improve the quality of life in the Kensington section of London through good planning, preservation, and an understanding of the area's history.

HRH The Prince of Wales

     Prince Charles, Prince of Wales will attend 'The Prince's Accounting for Sustainability (A4S) Forum' in the state apartments of St. James's Palace. A4S is an initiative set up by the Prince of Wales to encourage businesses to incorporate factors such as the environment, sustainability, and social well-being into their budgets and decision-making. 

HRH The Earl of Wessex

     Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex will be at Windsor Castle, where he is hosting a dinner for the Central Caribbean Marine Institute (CCMI), an organization of which he is Patron. The CCMI conducts research, education, and conservation programs with regard to marine environments and sustaining marine diversity. 

HRH The Princess Royal

     Princess Anne, Princess Royal, as Royal Patron of the National Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux, will open Chantry House Community Hub in Boston, Lincolnshire. CAB is an organization that provides free advice and consultation to people on issues such as welfare benefits, debt, employment, and housing.

     In Spalding, Lincolnshire, the Princess Royal will open stables at Willoughby House as Patron of Sense - The National Deafblind and Rubella Association. Sense is a charity organization that provides support and services to help deafblind people to live as independently as possible, and to fulfill their aspirations.

     As Patron of the Jubilee Woods Project, the Princess will visit project headquarters in Grantham, Lincolnshire, before planting the last tree of the project, and subsequently opening Diamond Wood at the Prince William of Gloucester Barracks. The Jubilee Woods Project was launched in 2011 with the aim of honoring the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee by planting six million trees throughout the United Kingdom through the Jubilee year. Part of project includes 60 Diamond Woods of at least 60 acres each, marking the Queen’s 60 years on the throne.

HRH The Duke of Gloucester

     Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester will be in Glasgow attending a concert of Christmas carols and readings at Glasgow Cathedral as Joint President of Cancer Research UK, a cancer awareness and research charity that among other things, engages in health policy and publishes the British Journal of Cancer. 

     Remaining in Glasgow, the Duke will attend a reception at St. Mungo Museum of Religious Life and Art. 

     The Duke of Gloucester will also be opening the new offices at 220 High Street, Glasgow, for Glasgow Life, an organization that manages cultural and sporting facilities and events in the city (including St. Mungo). 

HRH Princess Alexandra at left

     Princess Alexandra will attend the New Bridge Foundation Christmas concert at the Parish Church of St. George at Hanover Square in London. The Princess is Patron of the Foundation, which aims to give criminal offenders the support and tools they need to stay out of a life of crime and to become productive members of society. 

     At the Royal Air Force Club in London, Princess Alexandra will present Operation HERRICK Campaign Medals to members of the Headquarters Joint Force Support who served in Afghanistan.

HM Queen Elizabeth and the HRH The Duchess of Cornwall

     The Queen will be accompanied by The Duchess of Cornwall to open the new headquarters for Barnardo's, a charity that focuses on caring for vulnerable children and young people. It is the United Kingdom’s largest children’s charity in terms of charitable expenditure, and the Queen is its Patron while the Duchess is its President. The new headquarters is located in Ilford, Essex. 

HRH The Earl of Wessex

     Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, as Chancellor of the University of Bath, will present Degrees at the renowned Assembly Rooms of the city of Bath. 

HRH The Countess of Wessex

     Sophie, Countess of Wessex will attend the Seeing is Believing Carol Service at St. Paul's Cathedral in London. The service is being held by Vision 2020: the Right to Sight, a global initiative to compact avoidable blindness by the year 2020, of which the Countess is Patron. 

HRH The Princess Royal

     Princess Anne, Princess Royal will visit The Jailhouse Café at Her Majesty’s Prison, The Verne at Portland, Dorset. The Café is staffed by prisoners who are gaining work experience and/or learning skills for going into catering upon their release. 

     The Princess Royal, as Commandant-in-Chief (Youth) of St. John Ambulance, will also be attending the 10th Anniversary of the Carers' Support Program at the Discovery Court Business Center in Poole, Dorset. The St. John Ambulance Association is volunteer and charitable organization dedicated to teaching and practicing First Aid, as well as the provision of ambulance services. 

     Staying in Dorset, she will be visiting Victoria Education and Sports College as the Patron of Livability, a Christian charity that focuses on working with people who have disabilities. 

     In London, the Princess Royal will attend the Annual Carol Service at St. Michael Paternoster Royal, followed by a Reception at Skinners' Hall. These events are sponsored by The Mission to Seafarers, a charity that cares for the welfare of seafarer’s around the world, of which the Princess is President. 

HRH The Duke of Gloucester

     

     Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester will attend the Banister Fletcher Lecture at The Garden Museum, Lambeth Palace Road, London. The lecture is named for the architectural historian, and is organized by the Heritage of London Trust to discuss aspects architectural history. The Duke is Patron of the organization, and is himself an architect by trade, having completed a degree in the subject from Cambridge. 

HRH The Duchess of Gloucester

     Birgette, Duchess of Gloucester, as Honorary President of the Lawn Tennis Association, will attend its Annual General Meeting at the National Tennis Centre in London. The Association is the national governing body of tennis in the UK, the Channel Islands, and the Isle of Man. 

HRH The Duke of Kent

     Prince Edward, Duke of Kent will attend a meeting of the Royal Alpha Lodge at Freemasons' Hall in London followed by a dinner at Lincoln's Inn, also in London. The Duke is the Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of England, which has jurisdiction over Freemasonry in England and Wales as well as other subordinate lodges. 

HRH Princess Alexandra

     Princess Alexandra will visit St. Christopher's Hospice in Sydenham, London. She is Patron of the establishment.
